Microelectronics Shanghai 2001
An Epoch-Making Microelectronics Exhibition

To Exhibit Their Latest Technologies
(May 14, 2001, Hong Kong) - NEPCON/ Microelectronics Exhibition,
the renowned trade fair in the China microelectronics manufacturing
industry opens today, from 14 ¨C 17 May 2001 at the Everbright
Convention & Exhibition Centre, Shanghai, China. The exhibition
will once again bring the latest in microelectronics to the
public.
Sponsored by the Ministry of Information Industry (MII), and
jointly organised by Reed Exhibitions Companies and CCPIT Electronics
& Information Industry Sub-Council, NEPCON/ Microelectronics
Exhibition has been running in China over a decade~{#,~} more
than 20 NEPCON events had been held in Beijing, Shanghai and
Shenzhen. Today, the event is regarded as the most important
trade fair for the China microelectronics infrastructure and
manufacturing industries.
On account of the enormous demand in microelectronics products,
the 11th presentation of NEPCON/ Microelectronics leapfrogged
to a new realm with a span of 15,000sqm gross exhibit space,
the scale of NEPCON Shanghai 2001 is the biggest ever. The four-day
event will congregate 450 exhibiting companies and national
groups such as VDMA from Germany, STDB from Singapore and EEG
from the United Kingdom, presenting a wide array of the latest
microelectronics manufacturing equipment and technologies. Exhibits
from semiconductor components, electronics assembly products
and services, test and measurement to all phases of printed
circuit board assembly, surface mounted technology, materials,
supplies and components.
Alongside the exhibition, 2001 NEPCON Shanghai high-level conference
and technical seminar have put together a powerhouse group of
the most respected microelectronics personalities and entrepreneurs
from all over the world to discuss the important issues affecting
the vertical sectors of the microelectronics industry in both
micro and macro perspective. There are about 850 local and overseas
delegates will attend.
It is expected the China microelectronics industry will develop
rapidly in the next few years, as a consequence, there will
be a huge demand in microelectronics manufacturing equipment
and high-end microelectronics components. A prediction of
the gross industrial value of microelectronics industry in China
will reach RMB700 billions in 2000 and by 2003 it will be put
up to RMB1100 billions. The 11th presentation of NEPCON/ Microelectronics
